Castle Craig
Scenic viewpoint
Castle Craig, located on East Peak in the Hanging Hills, is constructed of trap rock and is 32 feet in height and has a base 58 feet in circumference. A metal interior stairway is used to ascend the observation deck on top. Castle Craig is situated 2½ miles northeast of Quinnipiac Recreation Area.
Manson Youth Institution

Manson Youth Institution is a Connecticut Department of Correction state prison for men under the age of 21. It is located in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut. Although it has a capacity of 679, it currently houses less than half that. Manson Youth Institution is situated 1½ miles west of Quinnipiac Recreation Area.

The facility was built beginning in 1910, partly by the inmates of the Wethersfield State Prison, and opened in 1913 as the Cheshire Reformatory for male youths ages 16 to 24. Cheshire Correctional Institution is situated 2 miles west of Quinnipiac Recreation Area.
