Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and near to Split, in Croatia. It was one of the largest cities of the late Roman empire with 60,000 inhabitants. Salona is situated 1½ km southwest of Vodovod.

Rupotine is an archeological site near Solin, Croatia, which is believed by Croatian archaeologists to be the site of medieval Rižinice monastery. It is considered one of the most significant early medieval Croatian archeological sites due to the inscription of duke Trpimir "PRO DUCE TREPIME " which was found here. Rižinice monastery is situated 700 metres northeast of Vodovod.
