The village of Vila Nova da Barquinha, which is the seat of the municipality, has about 3500 inhabitants. Vila Nova da Barquinha is situated 2½ km west of Parque da Frente Ribeirinha de Arripiado.

Almourol is an islet in the Tagus river, in the Portuguese civil parish of Praia do Ribatejo, Oeste e Vale do Tejo region. The small island lies in the middle of the Tagus, a few kilometres below its confluence with the Zêzere River. Almourol is situated 1½ km northeast of Parque da Frente Ribeirinha de Arripiado.
