The geographical centre of Switzerland has the coordinates. It is located at Älggi-Alp in the municipality of Sachseln, Obwalden. The point is the centre of mass determined in 1988 by Swisstopo. Center of Switzerland is situated 1 km north of Unterer Seefeldsee.

The Haupt is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. Its east side consists of steep limestone cliffs overlooking Stöckalp and Melchsee-Frutt. On its west side it overlooks the Älggi-Alp.
