Asafo Market was formerly called Nkrumah Market, which was named after the first Prime Minister of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah; however, the name was changed to Asafo Market when Nkrumah was overthrown. Asafo Market is situated 120 metres south of GCB Bank.
