From 1940 until December 2025 the conservatory was named Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music. National Music Academy of Ukraine is situated 280 metres southeast of Lyadsky Gate.

The Independence Monument is a victory column located on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, commemorating the independence of Ukraine in 1991. Stylistically, it presents a mix of Ukrainian Baroque and Empire style. Monument of Independence is situated 230 metres southeast of Lyadsky Gate.
