According to their NRHP nomination, the coke ovens are:"Significant in the context of the mining and coke industry that occurred between 1870 and 1930 in southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia. Chickamauga Coal and Iron Company Coke Ovens is situated 2½ miles southwest of Bloody Pond (Historical).
