Short Mountain is a traprock mountain located in south central Connecticut 5 miles north of the city of Meriden. It is part of the narrow Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, Connecticut, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border.
West Peak
Peak
West Peak, 1,024 feet, of the Hanging Hills, is the highest traprock peak in the state of Connecticut. The peak hangs above the city of Meriden 700 feet below and is characterized by its vertical cliffs and sweeping views of southern Connecticut, Long Island Sound, and the Berkshires to the west. West Peak is situated 1½ miles south of YMCA Memorial Forest.
