Dessau is a ward of the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau, in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, at the confluence of the rivers Mulde and Elbe. Until 1 July 2007, it was an independent city. The population of Dessau is 67,747. Anhalt Arena is situated 110 metres northwest of Anhalt-Arena.

Bauhaus Dessau, also Bauhaus-Building Dessau, is a building-complex in Dessau-Roßlau. It is considered the pinnacle of pre-war modern design in Europe and originated out of the dissolution of the Weimar School and the move by local politicians to reconcile the city's industrial character with its cultural past. Bauhaus Dessau is situated 3½ km southeast of Anhalt-Arena.
