Borgarnes is a town in West Iceland about 75 km north of Reykjavík, with a population of around 2000. It stands by a fjord called Borgarfjörður and is the centre of a vast municipality, Borgarbyggð.

Hellissandur is a village on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland. The village is considered one of the first fishing villages on Iceland, existing already in the 16th century, when people elsewhere mostly lived on agriculture.

Snæfellsjökull National Park is a national park located on the tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland. The park is home to the ice-covered volcanic crater that was the setting for Jules Verne's book Journey to the Center of the Earth.
