Kandy
Kandy est une ville du centre du Sri Lanka fondée probablement au milieu du XV siècle et qui occupe des fonctions administratives et religieuses. Elle doit son nom à la déformation de Kande, nom que lui donnèrent en 1542 les Portugais d'après le titre du chef local Kande râja, « roi de la montagne ».
