The Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Aghtamar Island, in Lake Van in eastern Turkey, is a medieval Armenian Apostolic cathedral, built as a palatine church for the kings of Vaspurakan and later serving as the seat of the Catholicosate of Aghtamar.

Gevaş is a municipality and district of Van Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,544 km2, and its population is 26,918. In the last elections of March 2019, Murat Sezer from the Justice and Development Party was elected Mayor. Gevaş is situated 8 km southeast of Akdamar Island.
