Philae Island was an island near the expansive First Cataract of the Nile in Upper Egypt. Due to the building of the Aswan Low Dam, the island is today submerged. Philae is situated 3½ km south of Jabal al Jirānīt.

Sehel Island is located in the Nile, about 2 miles southwest of Aswan in southern Egypt. It is a large island, and is roughly halfway between the city and the upstream Aswan Low Dam. Sehel Island is situated 3 km northwest of Jabal al Jirānīt.
