Valaste is a village in , in northeastern . Its German name was Wallast. The village is home to Estonia's highest waterfall, . Before the 2017 Administrative Reform, the village belonged to Kohtla Parish.

Valaste Falls is the highest waterfall in and neighboring regions. It is located between Ontika and Valaste in of and is formed by Valaste Creek as it flows over the Baltic Klint not far from the shore of the Gulf of Finland. is situated 3½ km west of Valaste.
