The Ogosta, is the largest river in Northwestern Bulgaria, a right tributary of the Danube. It originates at Chiprovska Mountain, a 2,168 meters high section of the Western Balkan Mountains, at an altitude of about 1,760 meters, on the border with Serbia.Photo: IRJIY, Public domain.

It is located in a hilly area on the right bank of the Danube, just east of the mouth of the river Ogosta, a few more kilometres downstream from where the Jiu flows into the Danube on Romanian territory. Oryahovo is situated 6 km east of Ogosta.

Mizia is a town and municipality in Vratsa Province, northwestern Bulgaria near the Danube river. As of December 2009, the town had a population of 3,354. Mizia is situated 7 km south of Ogosta.
