Kohsan is a town and the administrative center of Kohsan District, Herat Province, Afghanistan. The population is 12,463. It is located at at 737 m altitude, near the Hari River and not far from the border with Iran. Kohsan is situated 2½ km south of Qal‘ah-ye Darwaysh.

Islām Qala is a border town in the western Herat province of Afghanistan, near the Afghanistan–Iran border. It is the official port of entry by land from neighboring Taybad in Iran. Islam Qala is situated 7 km west of Qal‘ah-ye Darwaysh.
