Owned by Sri Lanka Railways, the state-owned railway operator, the station is part of the Batticaloa Line which links Batticaloa District with the capital Colombo. Valaichchenai railway station is situated 4 km northeast of Saaraavely.

Oddamavadi Bridge is a road bridge in Oddamavadi, Sri Lanka a length of 250 meters. It crosses the Valaichchenai Lagoon at Batticaloa. The bridge is part of the A15 Batticaloa-Trincomallee highway. Oddamavadi Bridge is situated 3½ km northeast of Saaraavely.
