Kayts, is a village on Velanai Island, off the Jaffna Peninsula in northern Sri Lanka. There are a number of other villages on the island such as Allaippiddi, Mankumpan, Velanai, Saravanai, Puliyankoodal, Suruvil, Naranthanai, Karampon and Melinchimunai. Kayts is situated 5 km northwest of Kayts.

Karainagar is located 20 km from Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on the island of Karaitivu. In Tamil, the name is derived from the Tamil word 'kadar-karai' meaning a settlement on the sea coast. Karainagar is the nearest town to Casuarina Beach. Karainagar is situated 10 km north of Kayts.
