The Panguna mine is a large copper mine located in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. Panguna represents one of the largest copper reserves in Papua New Guinea and in the world, having an estimated reserve of one billion tonnes of ore copper and twelve million ounces of gold. Panguna mine is situated 4 km southwest of Kupei.

Panguna is a town in the south-central interior of Bougainville Island, an autonomous region of Papua New Guinea. It was founded as a mining town by Bougainville Copper, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, to house miners from the nearby Panguna copper mine. Panguna is situated 4 km west of Kupei.
