Te Ārai is a small community on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, near the northern end of the Auckland Region. Mangawhai lies to the north, and Tomarata to the south.

Tomarata is a locality in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. Wellsford lies to the south-west, Te Ārai to the north, and Pākiri to the south-east. Tomarata Lake is nearby and is popular for boating, water skiing, kayaking and swimming. Tomarata is situated 6 km southeast of Te Ārai.

Mangawhai

Mangawhai is a township at the south-west extent of the Mangawhai Harbour, or Mangawhai Estuary, in Northland, New Zealand. The adjacent township of Mangawhai Heads is 5 km north-east, on the lower part of the harbour. Kaiwaka is 13 km south-west, and Waipu is 20 km north-west of Mangawhai Heads. Mangawhai is situated 8 km north of Te Ārai.

Te Hana

Te Hana is a small town on State Highway 1 near the northern boundary of Auckland. Wellsford is 5 km to the south, and Kaiwaka is 15 km northeast. Te Hana Creek runs westward on the northern end of the town to the Kaipara Harbour. Te Hana is situated 9 km southwest of Te Ārai.
