Motutaiko Island is the only island within Lake Taupō on the North Island of New Zealand. It sits near the town of Motutere. The name "Motutaiko" is from the Māori language, with "motu" meaning island, and "taiko" being a name for the black petrel.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Motutere is a small township on the southeastern shore of Lake Taupō in New Zealand's Waikato region. It lies on Motutere Bay, close to the popular diving location, Te Poporo / Bulli Point, and approximately halfway between Taupō and Tūrangi, to both of which it is connected by SH1. Motutere is situated 4 km southeast of Motutaiko Island.
Hatepe

Hatepe is a small community northeast of Tauranga Taupō and southwest of Waitahanui, on the southeastern side of New Zealand's Lake Taupō. State Highway 1 runs past it. Hatepe is situated 6 km east of Motutaiko Island.
