Locality
Puketotara is a rural community in the Ōtorohanga District and Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "totara hill" for Puketōtara. Puketotara is situated 3½ km southeast of Makeokeo.

Pirongia is a little village about 30 minutes drive south of Hamilton, in southern Waikato, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located at the base of Mount Pirongia. There is a little info centre in town that will give you hiking info and where to go.
