Thropton is a hamlet in Northumberland, England, located on the River Coquet, and its tributary Wreigh Burn. With a population of 780 it is situated 1.9 miles west of the village of Rothbury connected by the B6431 near the junction of the Wreigh Burn and the River Coquet.

Hepple is a small village and parish in rural Northumberland, 4 miles west of Rothbury, which provides most of its local services. It is on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, and lies on the bank of the river Coquet, at a location which was on the Coquet Stop Line, of which a pillbox remains. Hepple is situated 3 miles southwest of Snitter.
