Hopton Hall is a 14th century manor house and traditionally the residence of the Gell family baronets. It is located inbetween Carsington and Hopton. Historically associated with Wirksworth lead mining, the Hall is also equal distance from Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Dream Cave is a natural limestone cavern located near Wirksworth and Hopton in Derbyshire, England. It was discovered by lead miners in 1822 and was found to contain the almost complete skeletal remains of a woolly rhinoceros and other large mammal bones.

Hopton is a small village adjacent to the village of Carsington and two miles from the market town of Wirksworth in the Derbyshire Dales. Evidence of human activity near Hopton, during a warm period known as the Aveley Interglacial around 200,000 years ago, is provided by the discovery of a Paleolithic Acheulean hand axe in the area.
