Castro is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1200 as Castri. It had 68 inhabitants in 1567, which increased to 114 in 1808 and 129 in 1850.

Prugiasco is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta and Ponto Valentino to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa.
