Zaanstad is a Dutch municipality in the province of North Holland, situated northwest of Amsterdam. Its main settlement is Zaandam. It is part of the conurbation and metropolitan area of Amsterdam. It had a population of 156,901 in 2021.

The Zaanse Schans is an open air conservation area and museum, on the bank of the Zaan River, north of Zaandam in the Netherlands. It displays the traditional architecture of the area and has several functioning windmills and craftsman's workshops, which are open to visitors.
