Tynaarlo is a municipality in the north of the province of Drenthe, in the Netherlands. Tynaarlo is named after a small village in the centre of the municipality, but the municipality also includes the larger towns Zuidlaren, Eelde-Paterswolde, and Vries.

Vries is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 8 km north of Assen. Vries was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Eelde and Zuidlaren into a new municipality called Tynaarlo.

Zeijen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo. The village was first mentioned in 1370 as Lutbert van Zien, and means "slowly flowing" which is probably a reference to the Matsloot stream. Zeijen is situated 3 km southwest of Holtveen.
