Tynaarlo is a municipality in the north of the province of Drenthe, in the Netherlands. Tynaarlo is named after a small village in the centre of the municipality, but the municipality also includes the larger towns Zuidlaren, Eelde-Paterswolde, and Vries.

Vries is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 8 km north of Assen. Vries was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Eelde and Zuidlaren into a new municipality called Tynaarlo.

Yde is a village in the municipality of Tynaarlo in the province of Drenthe in the Netherlands. It lies about 11 km south of Groningen. Yde is twinned with De Punt as Yde-De Punt, however both remain separate villages. Yde is situated 3½ km north of Polder Frijen.
