The earliest mention of the village is from 1011, but there appears to have been an earlier Viking settlement here for some time. Dochamps is situated 3½ km south of Haie du Pouhon.

During the Battle of the Bulge of World War II, a fight between American units and elements of the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich took place in Grandménil on Christmas night.
