Within the structure of Natural regions of Saxony, the Rotstein Ridge forms its own microgeochore within the mesoheochore "Reichenbacher Lösshügelland" and the macrogeochore Eastern Upper Lusatia. Rotstein is situated 2½ km northwest of Wolfsborn.
