Adenau is a town in the High Eifel in Germany. It is known as the Johanniterstadt because the Order of Saint John was based there in the Middle Ages. The town's coat of arms combines the black cross of the Electorate of Cologne with the lion of the lords of Nürburg.

Breidscheid is a quarter of Adenau, having been part of the town since 1 October 1952; before that, it was an independent municipality. In addition to Nürburg, Quiddelbach and Herschbroich, Breidscheid is one of four places that are within the Nordschleife section of the Nürburgring. Breidscheid is situated 3 km southeast of Warte.
