Stahleck Castle is a 12th-century fortified castle in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley at Bacharach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It stands on a crag approximately 160 metres above sea level on the left bank of the river at the mouth of the Steeg valley, approximately 50 kilometres south of Koblenz, and offers a commanding view of the Lorelei valley. Stahleck Castle is situated 2 km east of Ruine Stahlberg.

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle, also known as the Pfalz, is a toll castle situated on Falkenau island in the Rhine River, adjacent to Kaub, Germany. First established in 1326/27 by King Ludwig IV of Bavaria, the castle served to collect river tolls from passing traffic. Pfalzgrafenstein Castle is situated 3½ km northeast of Ruine Stahlberg.
