Kercsek-tető

Kercsek-tető is a mountain in Nógrád County, Northern Hungary and has an elevation of 494 metres. Kercsek-tető is situated nearby to the locality Vadaskert, as well as near Károlyakna.

Karancs is the highest peak in the Karancs Hills with an elevation of 729 metres. It lies on the Hungarian-Slovak border. In Hungary, the mountain forms part of the Karancs-Medves Protected Landscape Area, while in Slovakia it is included in the Cerová vrchovina Protected Landscape Area.

Salgó Castle

Salgó Castle is a Hungarian stronghold near Salgótarján, Nógrád county, 120 km from Budapest. Originally built as a tower by the Kacsics clan in the 13th century to withstand the Mongol invasions of the 13th century, it was later renovated into a fortress by King Béla IV. Salgó Castle is situated 3½ km east of Kercsek-tető.

Salgótarján is the county seat and largest city in Nógrád county, Hungary. Once a small mining town, the city was built in a very modern communist style, leaving much to be desired in terms of classical architecture.
