Haliaetum was a Roman port that stood in the area of Simon Bay, next to the modern village of Jagodje, on the northern Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. Roman villa and port Haliaetum Isola is situated 3½ km north of Malija.

Sečovlje Saltpans Natural Park is a landscape park in southwestern Slovenia covering the area of Sečovlje Saltpans near the village of Sečovlje. The salt evaporation pond covers an area of 16.1 hectares, while saltworks lie along the mouth of the Dragonja River, covering an area of 650 hectares. Sečovlje Salina Landscape Park is situated 3½ km southwest of Malija.
