Staigue Fort

Staigue or Staig is a ruined stone ringfort eighteen kilometres west of Sneem, on the Iveragh peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. The fort is thought to have been built during the late Iron Age, probably 100 BC, as a defensive stronghold for a local lord or king.

It is on the southwestern side of the peninsula, facing onto Derrynane Bay, at a T-junction on the N70 road. Staigue fort, a stone ringfort, is nearby. Caherdaniel is situated 6 km southwest of Staigue.

Waterville, historically known as Currane, is a village in County Kerry, Ireland, on the Iveragh Peninsula. The town is on a narrow isthmus, with Lough Currane to the east and Ballinskelligs Bay on the west, with the Currane River flowing between the two. Waterville is situated 9 km west of Staigue.
