Fanad Peninsula is on the north coast of County Donegal. To its east is Lough Swilly, with Inishowen Peninsula beyond. To its west is Mulroy Bay, with a pinch that is nowadays crossed by the Blaney bridge: this means that Rosguill Peninsula is easily reached, and is also described on this page.

It is situated on the western banks of Mulroy Bay on the road between two larger villages, approximately 7.9 kilometres north of Milford and 7.9 kilometres south of Carrigart. Cranford is situated 6 km southeast of Bullogfane Bay.
