Eyrecourt Castle was an Irish 17th century country house in Galway which became a ruin in the 20th century. The house, the surrounding estate, and the nearby small town of Eyrecourt all took their name from Colonel the Right Hon. Eyrecourt Castle is situated 2½ km west of Ballynakill.

Eyrecourt, historically known as Donanaghta, is a village in County Galway, Ireland. It is on the R356 regional road 12 km west of the Banagher bridge over the River Shannon. Eyrecourt is situated 3½ km west of Ballynakill.

Clonfert is a small village in east County Galway, Ireland, halfway between Ballinasloe and Portumna. The village gives its name to the Diocese of Clonfert. Clonfert Cathedral is one of the eight cathedral churches of the Church of Ireland, Diocese of Limerick and Killaloe. Clonfert is situated 4 km northeast of Ballynakill.

Banagher is a town at the western edge of County Offaly on the banks of the River Shannon. In Irish it's Beannchar na Sionna, "the place of the pointed rocks on the Shannon" - the river is shallow so it can be forded and is less flood-prone, but it's a block to navigation.
