The Valley of Mexico, sometimes also called Basin of Mexico, is a highlands plateau in central Mexico. One of the most interesting aspects of this town is the discovery of an early Mesoamerican skeleton commonly referred to as "Tepexpan man". Tepexpan is situated 9 km southeast of Valley of Mexico.

The neighborhood is part of the Mexico City metropolitan area and had a 2010 census population of 189,453 inhabitants, or 36.15% of the municipal population. San Pablo de las Salinas is situated 9 km west of Valley of Mexico.
