Chipatá is a town and municipality in the Vélez Province, part of the Santander Department in northeastern Colombia. The urban centre is situated at an altitude of 1,820 metres at a distance of 227 kilometres from the department capital Bucaramanga and at 237 kilometres from the national capital Bogotá. Chipata is situated 4 km southeast of Cordillera Gaital.
