Barbosa is a town in the Santander Department in northeastern Colombia. Municipality of the province of Vélez. Called by the natives of the region as "The Golden Gate of Santander", being the second Santander municipality by the southern entrance of the department. Barbosa is situated 7 km southwest of Quebrada Charco Largo.

The urban centre is situated at an altitude of 1,820 metres at a distance of 227 kilometres from the department capital Bucaramanga and at 237 kilometres from the national capital Bogotá. Chipata is situated 10 km northwest of Quebrada Charco Largo.
