Chincoteague is a town in Accomack County, Virginia, United States. The town includes the whole of Chincoteague Island and an area of adjacent water. The population was 3,344 at the 2020 census. Chincoteague Island is situated 1½ miles southwest of Vineyard Shoal.

The Chincoteague Island Library is a historic U.S. building located at 4077 Main Street, Chincoteague, Virginia. Built in the 1890s, this one-story building is the oldest commercial wood frame structure in Chincoteague. Chincoteague Island Library is situated 2½ miles southwest of Vineyard Shoal.

The Island Theatre is a historic U.S. building located at 4074 Main Street, Chincoteague, Virginia. It still serves as an operational movie theater. Originally named Island Theatre, the theatre was renamed Island Roxy from the 1980s until the name was reverted to Island Theatre in 2013. Island Roxy is situated 2½ miles southwest of Vineyard Shoal.
