The state park occupies 244 acres on a narrow peninsula, Wolfe's Neck, that runs between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River. Wolfes Neck Woods State Park is situated 2½ miles west of Sister Island Ledge.

Harpswell is composed of a peninsula contiguous with the rest of Cumberland County, called Harpswell Neck, as well as three large islands connected by bridges: Sebascodegan Island, Orr's Island, and Bailey Island. Harpswell is situated 3 miles southeast of Sister Island Ledge.
