Cooper Lake, located near Lake Hill in the Town of Woodstock, Ulster County, New York, is a man made drinking water reservoir. Prior to construction of the dams 100 plus years ago the "lake" was a small pond in the Catskill Mountains.

The Byrdcliffe Colony, also called the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony or Byrdcliffe Historic District, was founded in 1902 near Woodstock, New York by Jane Byrd McCall and Ralph Radcliffe Whitehead and colleagues, Bolton Brown and Hervey White.
