The Morelos Dam was built in 1950 across the Colorado River following a 1944 treaty between the United States and Mexico. It is located about 1 mile below the junction of the California border and the Colorado River between the town of Los Algodones, Baja California, in northwestern Mexico and Yuma County, Arizona in the southwestern United States. Morelos Dam is situated 1½ miles south of Andrade.

The Camp Pilot Knob was a sub camp of the US Army, Desert Training Center in Imperial County, California. The main headquarters for the Desert Training Center was Camp Young, this is where General Patton's 3rd Armored Division was stationed. Camp Pilot Knob is situated 3 miles northwest of Andrade.
