The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is a national recreation area in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, between the San Fernando and Conejo Valleys to the north, and Malibu to the south.

Originally know as Niggerhead, all names containing that slur were replaced by the Board on Geographic Names to "Negro", making it known as Negrohead from 1964.
