The community is located east of Crescent City, at an elevation of 20 feet, Bertsch–Oceanview has a total area of 5.9 square miles of which 5.5 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles is water. Bertsch-Oceanview is situated 5 miles northwest of Red Alder Campground.

Crescent City is the only incorporated city in Del Norte County, California, United States, of which it is also the county seat. The city is on the North Coast of California and had a total population of 6,673 in the 2020 census, down from 7,643 in the 2010 census.
