Longview, the City of Trees, is a city in Southwest Washington State along the Columbia River, and across the Cowlitz River from Kelso. It was established in 1923 by R. A. Long, who intended it to become the "Chicago of the West".

Coal Creek is an unincorporated community in Cowlitz County, Washington. Coal Creek is located northwest of the city of Longview, reached by traveling westbound out of the city along Washington State Route 4, also known as Ocean Beach Highway, and turning north onto Coal Creek Road. Coal Creek is situated 3½ miles northwest of Cedar Gates.
