Harbor Island

Harbor Island is an artificial island in the mouth of the Duwamish River in Seattle, Washington, United States, where it empties into Elliott Bay. Built by the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company, it was completed in 1909 and was then the largest artificial island in the world, at 350 acres (1.4 km.

The Spokane Street Bridge, also known as the West Seattle Low-Level Bridge, is a concrete double-leaf swing bridge in Seattle, Washington. It carries Southwest Spokane Street over the Duwamish River, connecting Harbor Island to West Seattle.

Frank B. Cooper Elementary School, usually called Cooper School, serves students from kindergarten through 5th grade. Located in the Pigeon Point neighborhood of Delridge, Seattle, Washington, it is part of the Seattle Public Schools district.

West Seattle is the large portion of Seattle west of the Duwamish River. Separated from the remainder of the city by topography, it has a decidedly less urban character, making it a surprisingly close getaway from the activity of the downtown area.

Seattle's SoDo used to be called "South of the Dome", referring to the now-demolished Kingdome stadium; to keep some sense in the name, it is explained now as "South of Downtown".
