It is located near the western edge of the North Cascades, 10 miles south of Darrington, Washington, and 20 miles west of Glacier Peak which is one of the Cascade stratovolcanoes. Devils Thumb is situated 2½ miles south of Helena Ridge.

The falls are about 55 feet high and drop that in two segments, only one of which is easily seen from the rim of the canyon the falls drop into.
