French Frigate Shoals
The French Frigate Shoals is the largest atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, located about 487 nautical miles northwest of Honolulu. East Island is a low-lying, uninhabited island located within the French Frigate Shoals, a crescent-shaped atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Situated approximately 550 miles northwest of Honolulu, the island is composed primarily of sand and gravel and is part of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. East Island is situated 3½ km north of French Frigate Shoals.
